Microsoft Opens New Office in Silicon Valley. Expansion of strategic development.

SILICON VALLEY, CALIFORNIA, July 9, 2012 --
Microsoft Corp. unveiled its new office in Silicon Valley, located at the Moffett Towers in Sunnyvale, Calif. This addition of 237,121 square feet to the Microsoft Silicon Valley real estate portfolio fosters a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and productivity.

Inaugurating the new building, Tony Spitaleri, mayor, Sunnyvale; Qi Lu, president, Online Services Division, Microsoft; Lisa Brummel, chief people officer, Microsoft; and Jake Hoelter, product unit manager, Microsoft, spoke at the opening ceremony. Employees across Microsoft's business groups will work in the Moffett Towers, including employees in the Online Services Division.

"The opening of the Moffett Towers office represents our commitment to Microsoft Silicon Valley as a strategic location for the company in the heart of a rich technology ecosystem and talent pool," Lu said. "Microsoft has a long history in Silicon Valley, and we look forward to continuing our legacy on the forefront of technology in the area."

Microsoft has had a presence in Silicon Valley since 1981 and currently has more than 2,500 employees in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to Moffett Towers, construction is underway at the Microsoft Silicon Valley campus in Mountain View, Calif., to enrich the experience for both employees and visitors.

The expansion and construction also demonstrates Microsoft's strong commitment to the communities in which it operates and does business. In 2011, Microsoft employees donated more than $100 million to nonprofit organizations around the world, and employees donated $3.6 million to community organizations in Silicon Valley. Last year, Microsoft also donated more than $17 million in cash and products to more than 100 nonprofit organizations in the area.
