Nestlé is leading a new effort with other multinational companies and organisations to help partners of its staff to find work.

The ‘International Dual Career Network’ (IDCN) scheme aims to retain the best people, boost dual couple careers and address the increasing problem of expats leaving their jobs because of worries over their partner’s career prospects.

More than one fifth of employers reported that their expats returned home early for this reason, according to recent statistics from the non-profit organisation Permits.

A survey by one of the IDCN members Ernst and Young revealed that more than 10% of expats leave their jobs before the end of their contracts, in one in 12 companies worldwide.

Networking opportunities
“We want to put partners of our staff on an equal playing field with other jobseekers to find employment in a new country,” said Peter Vogt, Deputy Executive Vice President for Nestlé and Head of Human Resources.

“This network provides advice on CVs, guidance on how best to look for a job, networking opportunities and access to HR contacts with member companies,” he added.

Spouses worldwide
‘International Dual Career Network’ was first launched by Nestlé in Switzerland in 2011. There are now about 460 spouses in the country who are registered with the scheme.

In the same year, the initiative was launched in Mexico City, Paris in France and Zürich in Switzerland, to meet the growing need for career guidance for spouses.

In total, over 700 spouses and more than 40 multinational companies and organisations are taking part in the initiative.

Nicolas is mainly responsible for the consulting operation and the internal and international expansion of the Company, leading the Operation team and supervising all the strategic matters of the Global Mobility of our clients. Nicolas has a distinguished career in Global Mobility and brings with him a vast wealth of experience as both an in house and external Global Mobility specialist with high technical and strategy knowledge. In recent roles Nicolas was interim Global Mobility Manager at BAT in London and interim Head of Global Mobility at Tetra Pak in Lausanne working on their Global Mobility restructuration.

As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), John is a recognised thought leader and speaker on key subjects of strategic International HR, Talent Management and Global Mobility. John has 14 years consultancy experience and has previously held senior HR roles at Cable & Wireless, Canon, Convergys and GEAC Software. John is an International HR Professional who works with Global Mobility and HR teams to enhance their mobility programmes. He has also personally undertaken senior international HR assignments in Saudi Arabia and Latvia. He possesses a Master’s Degree in Managing Human Resources.

Navid Nazemian, Global HR Business Partner

Navid Nazemian is an interculturally experienced and commercially-focused global HR professional with over 15 years of progressive experience at operational and strategic levels.

He has worked across various industries for world-class organisations such as Adidas (sporting goods), General Electric/GE (commercial finance) and BAT (FMCG). He is currently working as a Global HR Business Partner for Roche.

Navid has delivered numerous speeches, workshops and keynote presentations across Europe, Middle East & Asia. He is the co-author of the books “Interimsmanagement”, “HR-Servicemanagement” and “Contagious Optimism!”. He has co-written the famous article series on “HR Transformation” with Dave Ulrich.

Navid holds a Master’s Degree in International Management/Foreign Trade from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany and is a Trained Principled Negotiator at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, USA.

As a member of Harvard Business Review’s Advisory Council, McKinsey's Executive Panel and part time University Lecturer, he is passionate about connecting the corporate world and academia in order to enable individuals, teams and organisations the best they can be.
