HR 2020 How Transformation will get us there
presented by
NAVID NAZEMIAN
Global HR Business Partner
Roche - Basel
“HR as a function has significantly evolved over the last decades. Where do we as a function come from, where are we heading towards to?
There is increased pressure on the HR function to either transform and to deliver added value or to ultimately forget about the seat at the CEO’s strategy table and become insignificant. Some Executives go even so far to say that there is an increased tension between the company needs and HR’s ability and capacity to deliver.
Whenever talking about HR transformation, HR Outsourcing and HR Shared Services almost automatically come to one’s mind. However, experience has shown that rarely, these initiatives have delivered the promised cost savings or had the impact as initially planned.
So how could a strategic framework for HR transformation look like? This will ultimately depend upon what the future holds. So expect 5 ground-breaking hypotheses about HR’s future and how HR transformation can be done effectively bearing these in mind.”

CORPORATE IMMIGRATION
The representatives from FRAGOMEN have drawn from one of the themes of the conference and will give the following presentation, ‘’Learning how to communicate better across borders, time-zones and cultures; the impact of soft skills on an immigration case’’
In corporate immigration communication is a central theme. Every corporate immigration case has many stakeholders and by default these people do not come from the same country. In order to have someone from country A, work and live in country B there can be a lot of people involved including the individual, the accompanying family, the home employer, the host employer, numerous levels of authorities in the host country, the embassy or consulate of the host country and so forth.
To have a successful immigration case it is of vital importance that companies do not underestimate the impact soft skills on these cases.
Today we will discuss how if companies and assignees are prepared, they can slightly change their approach and conclude smoother, quicker and less stressful immigration cases.
The representatives from Fragomen will focus on Swiss immigration but will also discuss the greater European and global context.

COMMUNICATING ACROSS CULTURES – ARE WE ALL SPEAKING THE SAME ENGLISH?
presented by
LORELEI CAROBOLANTE, GPHR, SCRP, SGMS
President and CEO of G2nd Systems®
This program has been submitted for 1.00 General recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through
HRCertification Institute.
As all business is developing globally and borders have virtually disappeared, every organization must leverage talents, expertise, creativity, and contacts from multiple geographical areas, multiple cultures, and multiple languages.
When native and non-native language speakers converge in the workplace, significant and often unrecognized implications emerge that adversely affect collaboration, performance and business results. For example, English may be the language of business, but non-native English speakers and native speakers use English differently... often without realizing it.
We all come in daily contact with people that are from different backgrounds than our own. Yet, our jobs and activities rely more and more on the effectiveness of these interactions, and our ability to leverage the diversity of all these relationships, associated knowledge, contacts
and resources.
Our productivity and the success of our endeavors are more and more dependent on our ability to collaborate in ways that are synergistic
and result oriented.
In fact, achieving these synergies and learning how to identify metrics and measure effective communication and strategic thinking is fundamental to establishing and maintaining global leadership in business performance.
Whether you are a native English speaker or non-native English speaker, the purpose of my session is to:
* strengthen your strategic HR professional growth by helping you to recognize current and emerging trends to ensure your career
is aligned with them;
* help you demonstrate you can support your company as it grows globally;
* discover the difference between cross-cultural communication and intercultural communication¡K and why it matters to HR professionals more than ever before; and
* learn how to use today's interconnected global workplace and economy as a tool for your success!
Results that you can apply in your office immediately:
Your participation in this highly interactive seminar will increase your awareness about unique workplace challenges for global HR
professionals or managers, whose professional goals include working effectively with groups of people from multiple cultures and countries.
This session will help prepare you to:
* Engage others to share ideas in meetings that include non-native and native English speakers and present more effectively to
multicultural groups¡ both in-person and virtual interaction;
* Manage HR conversations and discussions more effectively across multiple cultures and languages;
* Recognize the strategic relevance and importance of adopting a global mindset and developing a result-oriented communication
style that functions effectively across multiple cultures simultaneously¡ today's global, technology-connected workplace!

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT and EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Isn't It Time for Action?
Employee engagement is becoming more and more of a hot topic in the people management world. In the UK, there has even been a task force set up by Prime Minister David Cameron to address this issue.
But despite the growing attention to the topic, engagement levels in many workplaces remain stubbornly low. Particularly in a time of recession, organizations need their people's passion, and not just their presence.
Why, then, does employee engagement matter - and what can be done in response?

MAKING EXPATRIATION WORK!
How to turn assignments into success, helping the candidate, his family and the organisation. A psychological profiling can help to avoid costly mistakes.
The author has developed a unique assessment tool offering an online assessment followed by a structured interview.
This tool allows pinpointing a candidate's fitness for an assignment creating an in-depth awareness on potential needs and preparedness.
The tool is geared not only to the candidate proposed by the organization, but also makes a full-assessment of the family environment and their fitness for posting.
This presentation will highlight cost considerations providing tangible examples demonstrating the value-adding components of the pre-assignment assessment.
Where indicated this assessment can be combined with a full-fledged cultural awareness training preparing candidates and family members based on country specific cultural mapping. Through extended networking CCS is capable to offer psychological support on arrival, facilitating integration and adjustment.
The reverse process arising with repatriation calls for further close monitoring and assessment.
